We are delighted to have hosted a job shadowing programme for Claudia Oppliger, an Early Years’ Tutor from Switzerland, this week. The programme entailed a 1-2-1 session with a highly experienced CLIL practitioner, who provided Claudia with a range of ideas, tips and resources of how to enhance bilingual teaching in the curriculum for vocational Early Years’ students. In addition, it has been a privilege to facilitate visits to local nurseries, a Children’s Centre, a secondary school and the Cheltenham and Forest of Dean campuses of Gloucestershire College, where staff have provided invaluable insights into aspects of Early Years’ provision from the perspectives of tutors, teachers, practitioners and apprentices. The programme has also offered opportunities to gain a knowledge of the Early Years’ statutory requirements and best practices, and to discuss similarities between the Switzerland and the UK.
