Delingua Training was delighted to host students from Borbeck Gymnasium in Essen, Germany (known locally as Gymbo) for a 2-week work placement programme.
Working alongside Stuart Langworthy, holder of a Queen’s Award for Enterprise Promotion, the students enjoyed an inspiration and skills workshop preceded by English language tuition in preparation for placements in local primary schools and a charitable organisation. On the first day of their stay, they had the unique experience of ‘going to the races’ at Prestbury Park, Cheltenham, one of the UK’s most prestigious horse racing venues. When not busy at their work placements, the students had an unforgettable day in a trip to London taking in key tourist sights including the London Eye, Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey and Big Ben as well strolling along Oxford Street and Regent Street. They also visited the Roman Baths in the beautiful city of Bath. Staying with a lovely host family in the centre of Cheltenham gave them the opportunity of trying a range of English dishes, with the added surprise of bagpipe playing on Robert Burns’ day – a traditional Scottish celebration!
